Coin minted by the Teutonic Order
From the mass graves, the Cross Meadow, Visby parish, Gotland. A single-sided coin, "bracteate". A circle enclosing a shield, which in turn is divided by a cross into four fields. Above the shield there are three balls. A total of six coins are minted by the Teutonic Order. They were a Christian order of knights that, aside from their activities in the Holy Land, also had subdivisions in places including Prussia and the Baltic States. SHM 19325:Mz3
