The monument gave rise to the name

The archaeological world is among those who know the site of the mass graves from 1361 as “The Cross Meadow”. The name derived from the stone cross monument that was raised at the site around the year 1380.

The meadows where the cross stands have been used as a pasture for the city dwellers’ cattle.
