11. Buttons, silver

From Ammunde, Burs parish, Gotland, 1250-1361 A.D. Buttons and eyes were used to keep clothes fastened and closed (the zip was not invented until the 19th century). In the 14th century, when clothes were tight-fitting, buttons on sleeves and tunics were an important accessory. SHM 2485:30A-U
