From Ammunde, Burs parish, Gotland, 1250-1361 A.D. Hook in the shape of a pointy shield. Made of silver, originally enamelled. On the shield there is a depiction of a pelican standing in its nest, stabbing itself in the chest. According to the fable, the pelican resurrects its dead offspring by splashing them with its own blood, which has made it a symbol of the death and resurrection of Christ. SHM 2485:22:A
