7. Hook, silver

From Ammunde, Burs parish, Gotland, 1100-1361 A.D. Hook and eyes of gilded silver. In the circular centre part there is a depiction of a lamb and the cross banner. It is also called Lamb of God, or Agnus Dei, and is a frequently used Christian symbol as the lamb symbolises Christ as the bearer of the sins of humanity. The Lamb of God has been part of Gotland's coat of arms since the 1320s. The centre part is flanked by two double-headed heraldic eagles with their wings aloft (the heraldic eagle's normal pose is displayed, i.e. with its wings spread and raised). SHM 2485:20
