20. Horseshoe, iron

From the mass graves, the Cross Meadow, Visby parish, Gotland, 1250-1361 A.D. Six horseshoes were found in the mass graves. Five of these are small and would fit smaller horses such as Gotland ponies. These horseshoes are thought to have been brought as spares and have ended up in the graves with the dead who carried them. Another theory is that they were carried by warriors for luck. 17530:BXX:757e
