How were the wounds inflicted?

On the third shelf from the top of the display case there are two skulls, one humerus, one shinbone and a right foot, labelled A-E. They have all been found in the mass graves. With the aid of animated films, we have tried to reconstruct the events when the wounds were inflicted.

It is difficult to determine exactly what weapons caused the stab wounds – swords or different types of axes. Puncture wounds can be caused by arrows, spears, pickaxe spikes, daggers and swords. The points of these weapons differ. That makes it easier to determine which weapon caused which puncture wound.

The animations show a possible scenario for how these particular five injuries may have been inflicted. Make your selection in the menu on the right.

Information about the other bones in the screen on the other side of the display.
