The art of using weapons

There are no definitive sources that tell us how swords, axes, spears, daggers and other weapons were used at the battles of 1361. There are preserved manuals from the Middle Ages that describe how to fight with the different weapons. However, it is uncertain how widespread this knowledge was.

It is still likely that the soldiers in the Danish Army were better educated and trained in different weapon techniques that the Gotlanders, which surely gave them the upper hand.

How the Gotlanders and Danes deployed their forces and different types of weapons is largely unknown.
